An overwhelming tragedy

On the night of February 6, as residents were asleep in their homes, a 7.8 magnitude earthquake occurred close to Gaziantep in southern Turkey, along the northern border of Syria. The first quake was followed by aftershocks and a second 7.5 magnitude quake. Buildings and infrastructure collapsed. As the death toll rises, hundreds of thousands are without shelter in below freezing temperatures.
