summons
it was a tugging
at our hearts
a calling
to come as we are,
to be
an open wound
to each other
each
in our own way
needing to be seen
needing to be heard
needing to be
understood
within the veil of kindness

creation
so
we walked
and talked
(and dared the trees
to stop listening!)
laughed.
consoled
ate and drank
slept and ran.
shared.
and with this communion,
creating the intangible gift
of
life-lived NOW.
purified and powerful.
prayer
stones
placed on the earth
create form
out of silence
these elders
resonate our internal
melody
and create
a chorus with earth
of each silent song

Inspiration
We invited scientists gathered at the annual climate conference to draw their hopes and worries on smooth flat stones and place them in a dry creek bed. The practice proved to be both healing and communal.
